Willa and George Carson take their first long vacation traveling to Pleasant Harbor, Michigan a small community fifty miles north of Traverse City. They, plan to stay at a cottage of old friends. This story is shorter than most but is put together quite well. It's fairly easy to figure out the " whodunnit" but in my opinion, that is because the plot could be a very likely actual event. As always, the writing style and the editing are well above standards.
Very tightly woven story, but I would not consider it more than a short story as it is very short. The setting is very different from the usual setting of Tampa, Florida as it is in the former home area of Willa and George who have gone back for a visit. Almost before they arrive they become caught up in a mysterious situation that leads to a more serious chain of events.
This was a short story versus a book. The description of the terrain and the effect of travel during a blizzard was spot on. The reader could easily envision the scene.
The story line was too quick. One got the feeling that the author was on deadline and concocted the content of the book.
Very good book with believable plot , fast pace with not too many red herrings or space fillers. A good straight forward mystery and solution. Only con is having the good caring husband leave sleeping wife in bed taking car and staying gone until supper to a cafe in a raging blizzard. That is a bad no-no
Short and good reading. You had to wait to find out the out come until the end. It has a good 4 rating . Enjoyed.
I love murder mysteries. I appreciate this series because they are well crafted and short enough to be a good story and a quick read. Waiting anxiously for the next Willa Carson book. Keep them coming. Please.
This Willa Carson book was way too short. The story continued the feelings, attitudes, and perceptions of the two main characters, but there wasn't enough filler to really appreciate what was happening with them and between them unless you're familiar with them already from the other stories. I became a fan of Willa in the first four books so I had no problem with Willa jumping in head first where she clearly is not appreciated and pursuing the matter to the very end. I think this book is great fun but do recommend that new readers grab a prior book, most especially book one to understand Willa and George.
